2022 Summer Reading Program

Readers of all ages are invited to take a cruise with oceanic adventures, fun activities, creative crafts and new experiences with the Library’s annual Summer Reading Program. This year’s theme, “Oceans of Possibilities,” celebrates the sea, as well as the depths of exploring new ideas. Come to the Library to register starting June 1 through July 30.

Participants can earn prizes for attending special programs. All activities are free of charge and geared toward all ages, preschool through adult. Some programs require registration – check the Library’s calendar for details. Children and teens are also encouraged to track the books they read during the summer. The Library will also offer a different ocean-themed craft kit each week. Pick up a kit at the Children’s desk, work on them in the library using our supplies or take them home to complete on your own.

Adults are invited to embark on voyage of programs, discussions and sea-faring tales hosted by the public libraries in Atchison, Basehor, Bonner Springs, Lansing, Leavenworth, Linwood and Tonganoxie. Register and pick up your passport and collection of stories at the Main desk.

Adults can also participate in our Oceans of Possibilities book/movie/music review challenge. Enter your reviews online or pick up printed review forms in the Library beginning June 1. Participants will receive a prize for the first review they turn in, and an entry into our Grand Prize drawing for a $250 VISA gift card for each review after that.
