For many people, filling out a Medicaid application is difficult and can be overwhelming. A new program called “Healthy Kansas Kids” assists families with children in enrollment for Medicaid/KanCare. Outreach counselors will be in the Jahn Room at the Leavenworth Public Library on the third Wednesday each month, December through May, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Outreach counselors will help and support families with the application process and guide and ensure a clear path through it all.
The “Healthy Kansas Kids” programs at the Library are scheduled on the following dates, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.:
- Wednesday, Dec. 18
- Wednesday, Jan. 15
- Wednesday, Feb. 19
- Wednesday, Mar. 18
- Wednesday, Apr. 15
- Wednesday, May 20
The goal of the “Healthy Kansas Kids” program is to help Leavenworth residents who qualify for the program to improve and maintain their overall health by receiving the right care, in the right amount, at the right time. Outreach counselors will also be handing out information for the Health Partnership Clinic, the Federally Qualified Health Center for Leavenworth.
KanCare is the state agency that provides managed care through Medicaid. It combines health care, such as doctor’s visits, with community long-term services and support, such as help in a family’s home due to illness.
